Jean Boutier: „A European Model of Education of Nobility: Noble Academies in Europe, 1550 – End of the 18th Century“

In his plenary lecture Jean Boutier, Directeur d’Etudes at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Marseille, highlights the spread and influence of educational institutions established specifically for the nobility from 1550 to the end of the 18th century. He also analyses the effects of the presence of nobles from Central and Eastern Europe from the second half of the 16th century onwards.
